Ending the Opportunity Drought in Akoko South East & South West

A Vision for a Prosperous Akoko

At the heart of our mission for Akoko South East and South West lies a fundamental truth: for a community to grow, it must **EAT**. This isn’t just a slogan; it is a strategic blueprint where **E**ducation builds capacity, **A**griculture creates wealth, and **T**echnology unlocks access. Together, these pillars form a foundation for sustainable opportunity, supported by robust infrastructure and strong local systems. We are moving beyond the “opportunity drought” to ensure every constituent can finally “EAT good” through leadership that prioritizes action over rhetoric.

Building the Foundation: Infrastructure and Investment

A community cannot thrive in the dark or in isolation. Our “Functional Communities First” policy addresses the unstable electricity and poor rural roads that have long hindered our commerce. By pushing for the Rural Electrification Expansion Bill and scaling solar mini-grids, we aim to bring consistent power to underserved areas. This physical connectivity extends to our “Akoko Access Roads Programme,” which focuses on rehabilitating critical farm-to-market routes. To make Akoko truly investable, we are establishing a dedicated Investment Promotion Desk to package our untapped agricultural and human capital for global partners, capped by an Annual Investment & Innovation Summit to facilitate life-changing deals.

Cultivating Wealth: Agriculture as a Business

In alignment with the broader vision for Ondo State, we are transitioning from subsistence farming to high-growth agribusiness. We recognize that low productivity and post-harvest losses have historically drained our farmers’ profits. Our Agri-Business Transformation Programme focuses on training local farmers in modern techniques and directly linking them to buyers and processors. By improving farm-to-market logistics and launching the “Youth in Agriculture Scheme,” we are incentivizing the next generation to see the soil not just as a means of survival, but as a path to significant wealth creation.

Empowering the Next Generation: Education and Technology

To compete in a global economy, our youth must have “Education that Leads Somewhere.” We are expanding our existing 50% scholarship schemes into a structured Global Exposure Pipeline while upgrading local school infrastructure. However, degrees alone are not enough. Through the Akoko Skills Accelerator and our Community Digital Hubs, we are bridging the digital divide. These hubs provide the internet access and workstations necessary for our “Remote Work Enablement Programme,” training our youth to secure high-paying freelance and remote jobs from right here in Akoko.

A New Standard of Governance

Real progress requires aligned leadership and faster results. We are implementing a Councillor Support & Coordination Framework to ensure that local governance is responsive and efficient. Central to this is a new Constituency Feedback System—a structured way for you to voice your concerns and for us to act on them decisively. This is the “Talk & Do” standard: a commitment to listen carefully, act decisively, and deliver consistently until the opportunity drought is a thing of the past. Together, let’s make Akoko EAT good.
